Recipe costing app for bakeries, jam makers and caterers

Paste a recipe, a link or a photo and Lagom works out the cost per batch and per piece from your own prices, then suggests a price that keeps your margin.

Lagom is a recipe costing app for small food producers: paste a recipe, a link or a photo, and it works out the cost per batch and per piece from your own prices, then suggests a price for the margin you want.

How the costing works

Cost = ingredients + packaging + labour (hours × your hourly rate). Price for a target margin = cost ÷ (1 − margin). With a 30% margin, a batch that costs 70 sells for 100. Read margin vs markup for why that is not the same as adding 30%.

What makes it quick

  • Import a recipe from a link, pasted text or a photo of a handwritten card.
  • Cups and spoons are converted to grams.
  • Lagom asks for an ingredient price only the first time the ingredient appears.
  • Yield in pieces, servings, jars, bags or kilos.
  • When a price changes, every recipe and every suggested price updates.

One calculation for many products

A cake, a batch of 24 jars of chili sauce, granola in bags or a catering menu per guest: the same calculation works for each.
